Employers can find information here about the academy's careers provision, the recently introduced new grading system, business links and the North East Collaborative Outreach Programme (NECOP).
The Government’s careers strategy aims to achieve a world-class careers system and to aid schools in meeting these requirements they advise that the Gatsby Charitable Foundation’s Benchmarks to develop and improve their careers provision are utilised.
The Benchmarks define all the elements of an excellent careers programme, based on the best national and international research.
Please refer to the General Careers section for further details of the Benchmarks and the criteria that schools should be using in order to meet each Benchmark together with information on how Haughton Academy are meeting the Benchmarks for each year group.

New GCSE Grading System
The new grading system is being phased in from 2017, Maths and English, further subjects in 2018 and all remaining subjects in 2019.
As you will see below the grades are 1-9, with 9 being the highest. Grades 9, 8 and 7 correspond to the old A* and A grades and is designed to give more differentiation at the top level. Grade 6 is higher than the old B grade. There are now two pass marks - the old C grade is now represented by Grade 4 (standard pass) and Grade 5 (strong pass). Grades 3, 2 and 1 align with the old Grades D, E, F and G.
