Haughton Academy planned ‘Disadvantaged’ expenditure 2015-2016

The ‘Disadvantaged’ fund is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement, including pupils who are currently entitled to free school meals (FSM), those who have had a FSM entitlement in the last 6 years (FSM Ever 6), those looked after by the local authority (LAC) and the children of armed service personnel (Service Children).

From 2015 / 16, the allocation of the disadvantaged fund is as follows:-

Disadvantaged StudentsAdditional Funding Per Pupil
Students in Year 7 – 11 recorded as current FSM£935
Students in Year 7 – 11 recorded as Ever 6£935
Looked After Children (including children adopted from
care or who have left care under a Special Guardianship / Residence Order)
£1900
Service Children (eligible for past 4 years)£300

All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how this is being used. Once information is available, key outcomes for disadvantaged students will be reported upon.

For the academic year 2015/16, Haughton Academy will receive £321,000 (provisional) in ‘disadvantaged’ funding. This additional financial resource will be used to help implement a series of initiatives and strategies, that will focus on helping to ensure that ‘disadvantaged’ students at Haughton Academy, are given the best chance to perform as well as students from ‘non disadvantaged’ backgrounds.

Haughton Academy has a significantly above national average percentage of students (48%) who are entitled to receive additional disadvantaged funding. The additional funding has enabled us to build on the strong student welfare support, academic guidance and high quality teaching that all of our students enjoy and target more intensive support to those whose students from disadvantaged backgrounds whose attainment and progress is weakest.
