Beaumont Hill Post-16 provision gets a new name and a visit from the Mayor!
Sue Robson - Carlbury Co-ordinator
Students in the Post-16 provision of Beaumont Hill have chosen to rename it. After March 10th when the Mayor, Councillor Jim Ruck, will officiate at a re-naming ceremony, it will become known as The Carlbury Centre.
Why Carlbury? Well, if you look around the Education Village, you will see that each block is named after a local Darlington village. The students in Post 16 gathered all the village names and then had a vote to decide upon their choice, the outcome being Carlbury. This is a poignant and appropriate choice as the Education Village already has close connections with Carlbury village as it was the home of Bob Carnell, our first Chair of Governors and great friend to the school.
Students are also now sporting some new Carlbury Hoodies purchased from the enterprise profits made by the Post-16 catering company Top Class Catering.
