Welcome to Inclusion and Personalisation
What is inclusion in education?
There are many definitions and descriptions around inclusion. These include:-
- Belonging to a community and living a full life
- Learning to live together
- Inclusion is about ALL of us - it is not a disability issue
- An inclusive school benefits all students
At the Education Village we subscribe to all the above and strongly support the Government’s Every Child Matters agenda which demands that emphasis is placed upon the needs of the whole child.
Our philosophy of inclusive education is inextricably linked to Personalisation and the belief that all students should have optimum access to the curriculum based on their individual need and where possible, addressed through their preferred learning styles.
Personalisation can be addressed in a variety of ways such as through:-
- Planned adult support to assist pupils in particular lessons where appropriate
- Small group extra core subject lessons delivered by trained staff
- Individualized timetables that offer a flexible curriculum and access to a range of accredited courses and programmes
- A huge range of skills due to the bringing together of the three schools and the expertise of their staff
- State of the art facilities including huge resourcing in new technologies
- A rigorous focus upon student achievement to ensure students achieve at their highest level
- Students being offered the whole experience of being a member of the Education Village and beyond in order to develop caring, concerned citizens of the future
