The information below is for our Year 6 cohort, that left our school in July 2019.
What percentage of your Year 6 pupils could swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres when they left your primary school at the end of the last academic year?
|What percentage of your Year 6 pupils could use a range of strokes effectively (for example,
backstroke and breaststroke) when they left your primary school at the end of last academic year?
|What percentage of your Year 6 pupils could perform safe self-rescue in different water-based
they left your primary school at the end of last academic year?
Understanding the statistics:
- Pace themselves in floating & swimming challenges related to speed distance and personal survival.
- Swim unaided for a sustained period of time over a distance of at least 25m.
- Use a range of recognised strokes and personal survival skills (e.g. front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sculling, floating).
We believe that being a competent swimmer is an essential life skill and therefore we ensure that all of our children get swimming lessons every year. This starts with our Nursery children and goes right through until Year 6. This is possible as we have two swimming pools on site and we have qualified swimming teachers and trained teaching assistants and who deliver the swimming curriculum.
