Education Village Academy Trust Statement 8th July 2024

It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the tragic death of one of Haughton Academy’s pupils.

Scarlett Vickers (a Year 9 pupil) sadly died at home on Friday.

Scarlett was a lovely girl and a valued member of the Haughton Academy community and she will be greatly missed by everyone at the school.

The Education Village Academy Trust would like to pass on our thoughts to everyone affected by this tragedy. The Trust is supporting the school to look after its pupils and staff and help them through this very difficult time.

Families have requested to be allowed to lay flowers as a tribute to Scarlett. Haughton Academy has set aside a memorial space in the Village Green, within the main school site. We echo the school’s request that flowers are either left by parents and guardians with our main reception team or are brought to school by pupils

This is a very difficult time for everyone who knew Scarlett, and we will come together as a strong community to remember her.
