Ethos and Values

Haughton Academy PROUD core values

As an Academy we respect the rights of pupils, staff and parents/carers. We believe that everybody is entitled to receive the best education. Haughton Academy provides a ‘Positive Culture for Learning’ committed to ensuring that everyone develops through praise and encouragement, with unconditional mutual respect. Central to this is P.R.O.U.D. which is the way we convey the Academy’s core values to the pupils.

We understand that being fully prepared, having a positive attitude to learning and exemplary behaviour are key to outstanding progress (on time, on task and on side). We have high expectations of ourselves and each other. We do what it takes for as long as it takes to the best of our ability. We always remain positive so that we have the strength to perservere with even the hardest work.

At Haughton, we enjoy what we do together and never give up. We participate widely in every lesson, extra-curricular activities and revision sessions, gaining confidence by working hard to overcome any barriers to our success. Our academy learning habits are crucial and we give 100% effort.

Through our positive ‘Culture for Learning.’ we embrace diversity and the wealth of opportunities at Haughton Academy. We openly ask questions, challenge opinions and respect differences. We treat all people fairly, with mutual respect. We are always honest, do what we say we will do, and have the courage to do the right thing.

UNITED (and community focused)

We ensure that our behaviour, attitude and actions have a positive impact on the whole community, and acknowledge that together we can achieve more. We are loyal and fully support the approach of #TEAMHaughton and prepare learners for life in Modern Britain.

We understand that in order to achieve academic excellence, we must demonstrate an exemplary work ethic through punctuality, excellent attendance and perseverance. We acknowledge that there are no shortcuts, and no excuses, and expect 100% effort all of the time. Our behaviour, learning and progress are our own responsibility, and we can maximise our potential to achieve with high levels of motivation.

We expect everyone to follow the Haughton Academy core values as everyone has the right to learn, be treated fairly and to feel safe.
