One of the academy’s key strategic priorities is, ‘outcomes for all pupils will be very high, with substantial and sustained progress, irrespective of their starting points.' This is very much the core value at the heart of the school and continues to be the foundation stone that ensures pupils reach their full potential. #PROUD #TEAMHaughton
We are delighted with the outcomes for our pupils with their excellent exam results this summer. The expertise and commitment of staff and the hard work and focus of our pupils has meant that their results have been amongst the best the academy has ever achieved.
This is clearly shown in the increase in the traditional measure of 5+ A*-C, including English and Maths to 65.1%. The highest ever for Haughton Academy. There is also an improving trend across all data measures over the last five years. This improvement has been gradual and sustained.
· An increase in the percentage of pupils entered in the EBACC curriculum (made up of maths, English, science, a humanities and a modern foreign language subject) from 13% in 2020 to 30%
· The overall pass rate of EBACC increasing to 30% (4+) and a gap of only 9% between entered and achieved
· An ever increasing A8 of 46.8
· Basics at 4+ at a good consistent level of 65%
· Basics at 5+ continues to increase to the highest ever – 43%
This is a fantastic achievement reflecting the pupils’ positive attitudes and hard work during a very difficult time of instability caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Haughton Academy prides itself on catering for the unique needs of each pupil and this includes a number of very able pupils who are given the opportunities to achieve some of the best results in the country. We are very proud of the 8% of the cohort who achieved the very highest 9-7 grades in both Maths and English.
There have also been some superb successes for children who have had to overcome considerable adversity and personal difficulties. Haughton Academy really does work together to ensure that each pupil is supported to achieve their best, and it is so rewarding to see them getting the results which will enable them to go on to fulfil their potential.
The continued improving results are a great testament to the hard work and commitment of our fantastic pupils and staff. We are immensely proud of them all.

GCSE Exam Results 2020
We are delighted with the 2020 examination results. Pupils’ attainment on entry to the academy (based on KS2 SATs outcomes) is relatively low but the progress they make during their time at Haughton Academy is good. Due to Covid-19, no pupils sat formal examinations in the summer, instead centre assessed grades (CAGs) were submitted and then awarded by the examination boards. Haughton Academy conducted a very thorough and rigorous process to calculate these grades which included mock examination data and any relevant coursework that had been completed. We are confident that the grades the pupils were awarded were an accurate reflection of the amount of work that they put into their studies and would have gone onto to achieve, prior to the lockdown period.
