At Haughton Academy we pride ourselves on the excellent range of educational visits that we offer to all pupils.
During each school year we offer many visits that provide pupils with the opportunity to take their learning out of the classroom and into different situations. Pupils studying astronomy have had the opportunity to visit the observatory at Kielder to view the night sky though an extremely powerful telescope. We also offer regular art and music trips to London, local theatre visits, PE residential, sports events, Geography fieldwork and History trips to the Norman battlefields and recently two pupils and a member of staff took part in a government funded trip to the World War 1 battlefields. Visits to local and national businesses, such as Cummins Engineering, GlaxoSmithKline and Hartlepool Power Station, events at colleges and universities and trips to museums such as Beamish are also on offer each year. Many pupils have also been given the opportunity to visit our European partner schools in Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Portugal, Holland and Belgium and our Spanish pupils have been to Barcelona to practice their language skills. French pupils can look forward to a visit to France in the near future.
Over the past year our pupils have earned reward trips to theme parks, paint balling, horse riding, bowling and the cinema.
