Education Standards Committee (ESC)

In a Multi-Academy Trust, Governance is a shared duty of the Board of Trustees and the Education Standards Committees for each academy.

To avoid unnecessary duplication and so that responsibility is clear, EVAT has allocated responsibility for any strategic and financial matters to the Board of Trustees (and its sub-committee, the Finance, Audit Risk and Resources Committee) and the monitoring of Educational Standards and holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance is the responsibility of the Education Standards Committees (ESCs). Each academy has its own ESC. An ESC is a team, in order to share knowledge and responsibility members of the ESC often have ‘link’ roles and will focus and report on a school priority or key area when they make governance visits to the academy.

ESC governors are responsible for:

  • Working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to offer the best education to children and young people
  • Holding Principals to account for securing the best possible outcomes for pupils

Details of our ESC governors can be found on our school/academy websites
