Members
Academy trusts are founded by members, who have a general duty to exercise their powers to further the academy trust’s charitable purpose. Members are not involved in the day-to-day business of the academy trust. However, they do have key powers set out in the Trust’s model articles of association and in company law. Members are responsible for ensuring the Trust has effective governance arrangements. They have a range of duties and responsibilities, including appointing and removing Trustees, and holding the Trust Board to account for its performance.
